Biodiesel Facts.

It is a fact that biodiesel is a safer, more economical and infinitely more environmentally friendly than the conventional petroleum diesel that the majority of people currently use.

Here are some other Facts and Myths about Biodiesel:

• Biodiesel has a positive energy balance. It a Proven fact and that means for every 1 unit of energy required to produce Biodiesel, 3.24 units of energy is gained.

• Biodiesel has a closed Carbon Dioxide cycle. It's true. The carbon dioxide that is released during the production process and the use thereof is recycled again by the plants that is used to make biodiesel with. With fossil fuels it is a totally diferent picture. Carbon dioxide is released in the mining process, in the manufacturing of the fuel and when the fuel is burned. Biodiesel gives a net reduction of Carbon Dioxide emissions of 78% when compared to petrodiesel.

• Biodiesel is Renewable. Fact. Unlike Petrodiesel which is made from fossil fuels like Oil, gas or coal, Biodiesel is made from renewable sources. When the dwindling resources of fossil fuel finally run out, it will take thousands of years to replace. Biodiesel feedstocks on the other hand never runs out. Just plant some more soy and you are ready for another batch.

• Biodiesel is still Experimental. Myth. This is not true. Biodiesel has been around just as long as petroleum diesel. All over the world standardising agency's has set standards that biodiesel must conform to and vehicle and fleet owners have done millions of miles on biodiesel and proved that this is the fuel of the future.

• Biodiesel is more Expensive than petrodiesel. False. Although it is possible for biodiesel to be more expensive than fossil fuel diesel it is rarely the case and with the worlds oil resources drying up quickly biodiesel will remain the cheaper alternative. When one use expensive low yield feedstocks to produce biodiesel then there is a possibility that it will be more expensive than petrodiesel, but the choice of feedstocks and waste oil that it can be made from is so large that we believe that Biodiesel will always make economic sense. One of the big reasons why Biodiesel is so competitive is because of the lower price, so why make expensive biodiesel.
