BioGas Digesters.
What is a Biogas Digester? A Biogas digester is the name that is given to the plant that is used to produce the Biogas by means of the anaerobic digestion of biomass like manure or food waste for example. A biogas digester is also known as a anearobic digester, methane digester or a biogas plant. A biogas digester is quite simple to make on a small scale. This is proven in developing nations all over the world where unskilled and semi skilled labourers can make a digester that is able to produce biogas that can be used for cooking and heating. In it's simplest form it is an airtight container with an inlet for the biomass and waste water and an outlet for the Biogas. Being airtight is very important. If the Digester is not airtight either the biogas will escape or oxygen will enter the digester and effect the anaerobic digestion. |
