Making Hydrogen.

There are more than one method that one can use to make hydrogen. Some of the ways are very easy and the easiest way is also the least efficient way that you can make hydrogen - as it usually is.

Here are a few ways to make hydrogen.

- Metals in Acid. A metal, like Zinc for example, will react with acids and release Hydrogen gas.

- Electrolysis. Electrolysis is the method that one uses to splits Water(H2O) into Hydrogen(H2) and Oxygen(O) by running a low current through it.

- Steam Reforming. Steam Reforming is the most common way to make large quantities of Hydrogen. It is the process where hydrogen is removed from hydrocarbons. High pressure, very high temperature steam is taken, which reacts with a Natural gas like methane to form Carbon Monoxide(CO) and Hydrogen(H2).

Other ways to make hydrogen gas include partial oxidation of hydrocarbons and coal reaction.

The reaction of metal in acid in really inefficient and uneconomical and steam reforming is great for industrial applications but most people can't heat water to the high temperatures that are needed for the reaction in their backyard.

We need something that can be easily replicated by anyone. The Fourth law for Future Fuels.

For that reason we will only concentrate only on making hydrogen by means of electrolysis.
